I <3 KLM
So I'm writing this post from the plane, currently flying over a vast desert. Egypt? Don't know when I'll get internet access to post it, but I thought I'd have it ready. Let me start out by saying that KLM Royal Dutch Airlines is AMAZING. I haven't flown KLM in quite a few years, and after being stuck with United and Lufthansa and other terrible airlines, I had forgotten how easy flying can be. The food is amazing, the people are friendly, and no one else gives out warm, scented hand
towels! I had 2 extremely heavy checked bags and I didn't even have to pay any overage fees. And with the help of their mini language courses offered on the TV screens, I now know how to count to 20 in German.
Null, eins, zwei, drei… I'm sure that'll come in handy in the Serengeti.
Anyways, other than flying a great airline it was pretty cool getting on the plane in Amsterdam and seeing other students with the EWH program. Some I already know from Duke (Ray, please don't recline your seat or you might squish my laptop!), and some I just introduced myself to after seeing our matching shirts. There's also a girl from Katy! (That's my hometown, FYI). She went to Cinco Ranch High School and now she is a senior at Vanderbilt. We probably have some mutual friends, since I know a lot of Vanderbilters (Vanderbuilders?
Vanderbites?) from the PAVE program I did in 2009.
Don't you love when the world is small?
When we land at the Kilimanjaro International Airport, representatives from the MS-TCDC language school will be waiting to pick us up and bring us to the school. I don't really know many other details (or maybe I just forgot to read about them…), but I can't wait to get there!
p.s. Can I just say, the Sahara is really big.
